Well-being Classes
Discover the transformative power of Well-being Classes in Bristol, with Tai Chi and Qigong . Unlike many modern Tai Chi styles, this system actively builds core strength, resilience, and whole-body flexibility, while enhancing physical, emotional, mental, and energetic wellbeing. Many students describe it as an MOT for the body—a chance to reset, rebalance, and feel revitalised.
These time-honoured Chinese exercises guide you to move with ease, reduce stress, and strengthen your body and mind.
At Flowstates, our classes welcome complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Tai Chi, often called “meditation in motion”, uses slow, flowing movements to improve balance, coordination, and internal awareness. Meanwhile, Qigong (Chi Gong) uses simple, repetitive exercises to cultivate vitality, enhance posture, and support overall health and wellbeing.
Practising Tai Chi and Qigong regularly can bring many benefits, including better balance, improved flexibility, reduced stress, and increased energy. Students also notice greater mobility, calmer minds, and enhanced focus in daily life.
Our well-being classes take place in friendly and welcoming settings in Bristol, giving you the space to learn at your own pace while enjoying the supportive atmosphere of a small group. Whether you want a gentle yet powerful form of exercise, a way to unwind after a busy day, or a long-term path to wellbeing, Tai Chi and Qigong offer practices you can enjoy for years to come.
Join us at Willway Yard, BS3 4AZ, and experience how these timeless practices can help you feel balanced, energised, and revitalised. Beginners are always welcome—it’s simpler to start than most people imagine.
What Happens in Your First Class
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed and shown where to put your things. There’s no pressure to introduce yourself unless you want to.
The class begins with gentle warm-up movements to loosen your joints and settle your breathing. Next, we move slowly through simple Tai Chi and Qigong exercises, guided clearly and at an easy pace.
You are invited to work within your own comfort range. Nothing is forced, and there’s no expectation to “get it right.” Most movements can be adapted to suit different bodies and energy levels.
Each class ends quietly, giving you a moment to notice how you feel before returning to your day.
Well-being Benefits You May Feel
By the end of class, people often feel calmer, more grounded, and refreshed.
- Many notice less tension in shoulders, neck, or lower back.
- Some feel lighter and more energised, with deeper, easier breathing.
- Others feel pleasantly tired or simply settled, especially after a busy or stressful day.
You don’t need dramatic results—the benefits build gradually and gently over time.
Feeling Nervous is Normal
It’s natural to arrive feeling unsure, wondering if you’ll follow the exercises, stand out, or find Tai Chi and Qigong unfamiliar.
The class is designed for beginners, and most people in the room remember what it’s like to be new. There’s no performance, no competition, and no pressure to achieve anything.
You’re welcome to move quietly, take breaks, or simply observe. Showing up is enough.
