For music used in clinical trials, generative music can alleviate familiarity bias and shape to individual preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In clinical studies it is common that favourite music is used to appeal to the participant\u2019s willingness to take part in the activity. However familiarity bias means that known musical excerpts can cause extraneous variables when seeking to measure the effect of sonic dimensions on a participant &#8211; due to associations with the music, as there will be contextual aspects that are not necessarily directly related to the music (for example a first song at a wedding). It can however be determined what sort of music someone may like, based upon their self-reported favourite genres (e.g. songs they would dance to), and even their temperament or personality type and leanings towards musical characteristics. These musical components can therefore be programmed and automated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some basic limitations that can help to produce a \u2018music robot\u2019, that can generate anticipated musical standards &#8211; such as using common time (4-4), the rules of melody, the rules of harmony, predictive melodic contours &#8211; and so forth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
